This is a panorama stitched from 2 photos. It shows the glacier in the Vallee Blanche in September - one of the highlights of a visit to the Chamonix Valley in France. The mountains in the distant background are the border with Italy, and the glacier runs round to the right behind the Aguilles (needles) du Chamonix up to the Aguille du Midi and the Mont Blanc massif. This viewpoint is the Signal Forbes sitting on the corner of the Grand Balcon Nord route high above the Montenvers railway station.

The prominent peaks to the left of centre are Les Drus, famous for many arduous climbing routes.
